State Capitol Reporter
Bode Brooks joined the FOX 56 team in October 2021 and covers the Kentucky Capitol.
Bode got his start in news when he was 16, covering local news for his hometown’s country music station, WZQZ in Summerville, Georgia.
After leaving his hometown for college, Bode interned and was later hired by Atlanta’s #1 radio station WSB as a weekend anchor during his senior year.
Bode is a graduate of the University of West Georgia earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Political Science. While at UWG, Bode served as news director of both his college radio and television stations and hosted his own radio talk show, “The Power Hour.“ He was also active in student government and his fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon.
Bode’s first television job came right after he graduated in May 2019 when he was hired to be the weekday morning anchor at KTVE in Monroe, Louisiana. Shortly after, Bode was promoted to weekday evening anchor. Bode’s coverage contributed to KTVE being recognized for “Best Small Market Newscast” by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters.
While at KTVE, some of the major stories Bode covered include:
- The first visit to Monroe by a sitting president in more than 3 decades
- The investigation into the death of Ronald Greene in Louisiana State Police custody
- The sudden death of Monroe’s Congressman-Elect Luke Letlow from COVID-19
In his free time, you may be able to spot Bode out at any local park with his schnauzer, Roosevelt.
