Meteorologist
David Aldrich loves weather and is excited about the challenges that Kentucky weather can bring. As a trained meteorologist, David knows the value of delivering an accurate forecast and enjoys the challenge each and every day.
He was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, but traveled south to attend college. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from North Carolina State University in 1999, David began his television career in Raleigh, North Carolina, at WNCN, then Huntington-Charleston, West Virginia, at WSAZ, followed by four years in Rochester, New York, and lake effect snow country at WHAM.
Next up, David got to return to his hometown by working at the fourth-largest television market in the country: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There, he worked as the weekend meteorologist for four years at WTXF (Fox 29) where he forecast and produced the weather in the mornings for “Good Day Philadelphia.”
David Aldrich was then hired to serve as the chief meteorologist for WVLT in Knoxville, Tennessee, from 2010-2019. That’s where a nickname soon emerged: “Captain Accurate.”
David Aldrich also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television & Motion Pictures from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
David has earned the distinction of becoming a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM AMS) #166 with the American Meteorological Society and has his Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association (NWA).
David and his wife Stephanie have two daughters, a cat, a chinchilla, and a dog named Dew Point (“Dewey”).
David loves to explore new things and is excited about Lexington and serving the Commonwealth here at FOX 56.
