Mandy Noell

Anchor

Mandy Noell signed on to help launch the new WDKY news operation in September 2021. She jumped at the opportunity to help establish a new station and new news culture in Lexington.

Mandy is from Pittsburgh, and is a proud Virginia Tech Hokie.

She moved to the Bluegrass from Nexstar sister station KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she was a morning anchor and reporter for a five-hour morning show.

Before moving to Little Rock, Mandy spent over three years as the main evening anchor at another Nexstar station, WKBN-TV in Youngstown, Ohio. Over the years in Youngstown, Mandy solo-anchored two Emmy award-winning newscasts and an Edward R. Murrow Award-winning newscast.

The nationwide opioid crisis hit Youngstown particularly hard, and Mandy hosted multiple live town hall events, joined by politicians, leaders, and members of the community working on the front lines of the epidemic.

She also put together a special broadcast celebrating the Women’s Suffrage movement. Mandy also produced and wrote a documentary on a cold case 1994 double-murder involving two teen girls, Sarah Boehm and Kathryn Menendez.

Mandy believes shining a light on murder victims and the missing is one of the most important parts of her job. Victims always deserve a voice, and a responsibility of journalists is to speak for those who can’t.

Prior to Youngstown, Mandy worked at WMBF News in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for nearly four years doing many jobs in the newsroom. Her primary role was breaking news anchor/reporter. A lover of writing, she also worked with the digital team producing web stories as well.

She covered the disappearance of Heather Elvis, the 2015 thousand-year flooding event, reporting from waist-high water in her own neighborhood, the historic 2013 ice storm, and multiple hurricanes.

Mandy holds her journalistic ethics sacred and will always fight for integrity, accuracy, fairness, and justice.

In her spare time, when she’s not cheering on the Hokies and Pittsburgh sports teams, she’s often watching whatever sport is in season.

An outdoor enthusiast, Mandy spends a lot of time in the Red River Gorge area. She loves trail running, hiking, climbing, and kayaking.

She is also a major foodie and would love to hear recommendations on the best restaurants in the Bluegrass.

When she’s not trying new things, she is being bossed around by her two fluffy, sassy rescue pups, Bailey and Zoe, AKA the BowWowBrats.

Mandy is very active on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Feel free to stop by and say hi!
