Sports Director
Mitch Brown joined the FOX 56 team in October 2021 and is excited to be in the Bluegrass State. He brings over six years of sports reporting at the professional, college, and high school levels to Lexington.
Mitch is from Manassas, Virginia, and is a proud graduate of Old Dominion University.
Prior to Lexington, Mitch got his start covering the SEC and South Carolina athletics in Columbia, South Carolina. He was also the lead sports anchor for his station on South Carolina women’s basketball’s run to the 2021 Final Four and Clemson’s run to the 2020 College Football National Championship. As sports director, his department earned an EMMY nomination for a one-time sports special on sports and social injustice.
Mitch’s start in the sports world began as a weekend sports anchor in Norfolk, Virginia, less than a year after graduating from ODU. For three years, Mitch helped relaunch sports at the CBS affiliate, covering the Washington Football Team and playing a key role in covering Virginia’s national championship in men’s basketball. During his time in Norfolk, Mitch was a part of two Outstanding Sports Broadcast awards from the Virginia Association of Broadcasters.
When Mitch isn’t on the sidelines catching highlights, he enjoys checking out Kentucky golf courses, hiking, and new food spots across the area. Recommendations on all are always welcomed!
