LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Here are five things to know before you go to bed Dec. 6, 2021.

Preventing Strokes

Researchers in Ireland examined more than 13,000 stroke patients and found links to increased anger and rigorous exercise.

The study found that one in 11 stroke survivors experienced a period of increased anger in the hour leading up to their stroke.

One in 20 survivors had engaged in heavy physical exercise in the same time period.

Scientists said preventing strokes and determining their causes is a priority as it’s still difficult to predict when they occur.

The nuclear family

The traditional American family is becoming less common.

According to the Census Bureau, the number of US homes with a married couple and children hit record lows.

The number of nuclear families in the country totals more than 23-million. The lowest number since 1959.

Lack of schmear

Bagel shops in new york city are reporting an alarming lack of cream cheese.

The shortage is causing many to stockpile what they can get or even go across state lines to get more.

Dairy suppliers are having problems fulfilling orders for unprocessed and unwhipped cream cheese.

Avocadoes

A study has recently linked eating avocados to having a better diet overall.

Researchers found that families who ate two avocados per day felt more full and ate less food leading to weight loss.

They also found these families ate less processed meats, chicken, and eggs.

However, researchers also found those who ate more avocados had lower levels of calcium and vitamin D in their system.

Icicle art

Construction has begun on a unique new attraction in upstate New York.

It involves growing and shaping icicles to create ice castles.

Once finished, the winter wonderland will include ice-carved slides, tunnels, fountains, crawl spaces and caverns.

At night, the entire display will be lit up with color-changing LED lights.
