LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Management at Link-Belt Cranes on Palumbo Drive in Lexington want your help identifying a thief who stole pricey and sentimental items from employees’ desks.

Lexington Police Department said the crime happened two days after Christmas. “The business itself was actually closed,” said Det. Anthony Delimpo. “There were no working employees there. There was a cleaning crew there. The door was broken, no way to secure it.”

Security cameras caught him looking around for a bit before getting down to why he was really there.

“This gentleman walked in, kind of made himself at home, and took a lot of personal items. Personal items off people’s desks,” said Delimpo.

A felony amount of stolen items, say police. “A lot of the stuff was personal stuff that belonged to people whether it was decorations or things they’d been given. Whatever someone would put on their desks to decorate to remind them of home and family,” said Delimpo.

The most commonly reported missing items are employees’ Funko Pop dolls. Online they sell for about $12 each, but some of the more sought-after ones can fetch upwards of $150 or thousands. Lexington Police said more and more they’re seeing the dolls stolen, only to end up at pawn shops.

Link-Belt management told Lexington police, while they initially thought the man in the video was an ex-employee, they’ve since ruled that out.

“They’ve gone back through their records and he’s never worked there, they have no record matching anyone who’s ever worked there so it’s not an employee. It’s someone outside of the business.”
