LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A team of thieves wasn’t expecting company when they busted into a storefront on Industry Road on Dec. 22. They walked away from the crime with nothing. The store though has their faces on camera.

Volodymyr Kovtsun said it’s tough finding skilled technicians to help with the work he has. He spends his days helping customers in the front of the store and at night, he repairs electronics. He was at the store the night three masked men, smashed his front window with a hammer.

“When you have a small business and you have to do the work all by yourself, you can’t make a lot of money,” Kovtsun said. “You get money to make your store better and again, you have to start from zero.”

His store surveillance video showed Kovtsun chase after the three men, seconds after the glass broke, but they’d already jumped into a dark-colored Nissan pickup. Lexington police said the truck was stolen just minutes before the crime and abandoned after it.

“My friends tell me like why did you run toward them? Why did you follow? They could have a gun. I don’t know, I’m never scared,” Kovtsun said.

Now, the Ukrainian native is hoping the community rallies around him to find the three who did this. Crime Stoppers offers anyone a completely anonymous way to send in information. Just call the tip line at 253-2020 or go online to p3tips.com. You could earn up to a $1,500 cash reward.
