IRVINE, Ky. (FOX 56) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday morning.

KSP was called to an Estill County residence and found Jeffrey Johnson, 43, of Irvine, dead inside from an apparent gunshot wound.

Initial investigations reveal Johnson entered the residence while armed and was confronted by a man who lived there. The occupant retrieved a firearm and fatally shot Johnson.

No charges have been filed at this time and this incident remains under investigation.
