LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Five Kentucky cities have been recognized by a southern lifestyle magazine as some of the best the south has to offer.

Southern Living announced Louisville, Bowling Green, Paducah, Berea, and Lexington in their The South’s Best 2022 on March 8.

Lexington

Lexington came in at 12th in The South’s Best College Towns 2022.

Bourbon, basketball, and horse racing were all major draws for Wildcats to Lexington, according to Southern Living.

Berea

Berea came in at number 14 for the South’s Best Mountain Towns 2022.

The large privately owned forest, managed by Berea College, was a major part of its ranking.

“The forest offers miles of trails and room to roam in this picturesque region of the Bluegrass State,” Southern Living wrote.

Louisville

Louisville came in at number 15 of the South’s Cities 2022.

“You’ll find Louisville along the Ohio River, where things are busy year-round, but especially in May, when Churchill Downs plays host to the Kentucky Derby,” the article said.

Paducah

Paducah came in at number 11 for the South’s Best Small Towns 2022.

The article highlighted the small towns cultural attractions, “It’s noted for its galleries, festivals, arts centers, and museums (including the engaging National Quilt Museum), all of which invite visitors to get involved, get creative, and appreciate art in new ways,”

Bowling Green

Bowling Green was named 12th for The South’s Best Cities on the Rise.

“Even in the aftermath of a historic weather system that devastated the Bowling Green area at the end of 2021, this Kentucky city is still rising” the article read.
