LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A man was arrested Tuesday after Laurel County deputies investigated a burglary in progress.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were sent to investigate a possible in progress burglary near Old Way Road east of London. When they arrived, deputies found people who identified themselves as children of the homeowner. According to the office, when the family members arrived, a man fired multiple gunshots out of the back door of the home.

Deputies commanded everyone inside the home to leave, and the homeowner exited telling deputies a man inside the home was armed with multiple firearms and possibly wanted on a warrant. While searching the home, a deputy located 42-year-old Brian Roaden in a closet hiding under a pile of clothes. The office said they couldn’t get Roaden to leave the closet and what the office called a scuffle followed before Roaden was taken into custody.

Roaden, from London, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, menacing, resisting arrest, absconding parole supervision, failure to report to a parole officer as directed regarding a conviction in Laurel Circuit Court on charges of receiving stolen property – firearm
