FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) – The popular social media app TikTok is a step closer to being banned inside the Kentucky government.
The House voted overwhelmingly Wednesday, 96-3, to ban TikTok on state networks and devices. Senate Bill 20 says it would not apply to any “public postsecondary education institution” or when necessary for law enforcement activities or investigations.
The app is banned in more than half of state governments after an FBI warning in 2022.
The Kentucky Senate already approved the idea but will have to sign off on House changes before it’s sent to the governor’s desk.
