LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Louisville Police Department shared an update regarding Nickolas Wilt, the officer severely injured during the shooting at Old National Bank.

The Louisville Metro Police Foundation shared positive news from Wilt’s family on Tuesday. They said he has been making progress and was taken off a life support machine for 48 hours.

“His breathing sats are pretty consistent for the last 24 hours after assistance from the ECMO was removed. He is still listed in critical but stable condition,” the update stated.

Doctors at Jewish Hospital approved Wilt’s transfer to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he will be monitored by its on-staff trauma team.

Wilt’s family said he is still battling pneumonia as well, but it has become easier to manage.
