ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A 22-year-old has passed following a three-vehicle accident that occurred this weekend. According to Kentucky State Police, the multiple-vehicle collision occurred on KY 461, Lake Cumberland Road in Rockcastle County.

Investigators said a 2013 White Hyundai operated by 22-year-old Austin R. Smith of Mount Vernon, and four passengers were traveling east on Level Green Road when Smith attempted to cross KY Highway 461 onto Blue Springs Road and crossed into the path of a 2000 Ford F-150 which was also towing another vehicle, operated by 46-year-old Burford W. Raider of Waco.

Smith along with two juvenile passengers was transported by Rockcastle EMS to Rockcastle Regional Hospital. Police continue that the third male passenger did not seek any medical treatment.

The fourth female juvenile passenger and Raider were transported by Life Flight to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital.

As a result of injuries sustained in the crash, Smith was pronounced deceased at the Rockcastle Hospital by the Rockcastle County Coroner’s office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Smith in Frankfort at the state medical office.
