KENTUCKY (FOX 56) — Niche, a site that collects and analyzes data on schools and colleges, has generated a list of the top public high schools in the state of Kentucky. Of the top 10 public high schools, three of them are in Lexington!

Niche analyzes factors like academics, culture and diversity, and quality of teachers to come up with their scores, which are then broken up into grades like A+, A, all the way to D-.


Academics make up 60% of the overall grade

Looking at the top 10 schools, DuPont Manual High School in Louisville boasts the top score and is one of only three schools in Kentucky to earn an A+ rating. Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington is ranked third overall and earned the last A+ rating.

The top 10 ranked schools in Kentucky are:

  2. The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science — Bowling Green
  3. Paul Laurence Dunbar High School — Lexington
  4. Beechwood High School — Fort Mitchell
  5. Lafayette High School — Lexington
  6. Henry Clay High School — Lexington
  7. Highlands High School — Fort Thomas
  8. Bowling Green High School — Bowling Green
  9. Murray High School — Murray
  10. North Oldham High School — Goshen

According to Niche, there are 29 high schools in Kentucky that earned an A- rating or better.
