CARROLLTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A Kentucky man has been charged with criminal abuse of a child under 12 years old after allegedly posting a video on Snapchat.

Benjamin J. Franklin, 23, of Carrollton was arrested on Oct. 13 by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department after a mother reported she was at the hospital with her 2-year-old child.

According to an arrest citation, the mother told police there was a video posted as a Snapchat story by Franklin showing him holding the child in the air by his throat and slamming the child onto the bed.

The officer reported the child had obvious and visible injuries to his face and neck and multiple fresh marks on his face and neck.

The citation said Franklin admitted to physically abusing the child while he was alone with him and recording the abuse.

Franklin was booked into the Carroll County Detention Center at 2:26 p.m. on Monday. His bond was set at $5,000 cash, and he was ordered to have no contact with the boy, his mother, or their home.
