FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Kentucky State Police Training Academy is welcoming its largest cadet class since 2014.

Kentucky State Police officials attribute the large 103-member cadet class to the recent $15,000 salary increase for sworn personnel. KSP currently employs 899 troopers, a 22% increase since Nov. of 2021.

Cadet classes consist of 24 weeks of basic training with more than 1,000 hours of classroom and field study in subjects such as constitutional law, use of force, weapons training, first aid, high-speed vehicle pursuit, criminal investigation, and much more.
