LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Food festivals are a reflection of a community’s heritage and soul.

Thrillist put together a list of the best 18 food festivals to look forward to in 2023, and what better place to come and indulge in large amounts of fried chicken than the birthplace of KFC?

The World Chicken Festival is being held in London from Sept. 21 to Sept. 24.

What better time to visit the largest steel skillet than during a chicken festival?

The festival encompasses so much more than just a big skillet though. According to Thrillist, there are activities like a Colonel Sanders motorcycle ride, a “rooster tail” mullet contest, and, of course, numerous cook-offs.

There is also the Sanders Cafe and Museum in Corbin, which features the original restaurant restored to its 1940s layout. This museum is also the founding place of the original KFC chicken recipe and the 11 mouthwatering herbs and spices that make the chicken famous.
