LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — 2,900 Letcher County students returned to class Wednesday after historic July floods postponed their scheduled start date.

The school district was among many who were forced to push back their start date. Knott County schools, an area also devastated by flooding, resumed their school year on Tuesday.

Now that the school year has begun in Letcher County, all 171 Kentucky school districts — comprised of approximately 1,500 schools — are back in session for the 2022-23 school year.
