LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A London woman was taken into custody on Sunday after reportedly driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

According to London police, an officer was traveling behind a vehicle swerving and crossing the center line on Second Street. The officer proceeded to pull the vehicle over in front of her residence and detected a strong alcoholic odor coming from the driver, 36-year-old Lou Ann Oakley.

Police said Oakley had red, glossy eyes and her speech was extremely slurred. The officer also noted an empty pint of Fireball whiskey in the driver’s side door.

Authorities confirmed she had a child in the front seat of the vehicle and was not in a proper restraint.

Oakley reportedly failed numerous field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for:

  • Endangering the welfare of a minor
  • Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (alcohol)

She was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center on a bond of $1,500.
