LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A 19-year-old student was taken into custody Tuesday for allegedly bringing an extended magazine gun to school.

At 8:45 a.m., Jefferson County authorities were called to Western High School to assist staff with a student who reportedly had a handgun in his possession, according to an arrest citation.

A police K-9 was brought in to do a random search when a student refused to yield his backpack to staff members. According to the citation, 19-year-old Jamari Brisco openly admitted to having a gun in his backpack.

The handgun was described as a 9 mm. and has two magazines of ammo, one of which was an extended magazine loaded with 30 rounds.

The serial number on the gun was run through a National Crime Information Center database and was discovered to be stolen.

Brisco was taken into custody and lodged in Louisville Metro Corrections on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon on school property and receiving stolen property.
