POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Rescue workers in Powell County were able to save a man who they said fell more than 90 feet off a cliff.

Powell County Search and Rescue along with other first responder agencies were called around 1:30 a.m. Saturday for reports of an individual who had fallen over a cliff edge at Hollerwood Park in the Red River Gorge.

Upon assessment, search and rescue workers said they determined the individual had endured a 90-foot fall and was suffering from a possible spinal injury, broken limb, and hypothermia.

First responders were able to rig a rope system for extraction in extremely rough terrain, pouring rain, and cold temperatures. They successfully evacuated the man and transported him to UK Hospital to receive medical attention.
