BENTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A Marshall County man was handed charges related to alleged possession of child pornography by Kentucky State Police on Tuesday.

Officers with the U.S. Forestry Service said they found various images depicting child pornography near the eastern shore of the Land Between the Lakes region of Kentucky. Kentucky State Police was promptly notified and gathered at the scene to investigate.

KSP said they found multiple images of child pornography, electronic devices, and other items after searching for several hours, prompting further investigations into the origins of the images.

Monte Beasley, 58, of Benton was interviewed by KSP detectives before being charged with possession of content portraying a sexual performance by a minor and tampering with physical evidence.

KSP also confirmed a similar investigation was ongoing by the Mayfield Police Department, who said similar illicit images were found in an abandoned residence a few days prior.

Detectives said the photos were found in a home allegedly occupied by Beasley that was damaged in the December tornado.

As KSP and Mayfield police continue investigating, KSP said they anticipate additional future charges against Beasley.

Beasley was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
