SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — A domestic violence complaint late Friday ended with one man dead and a Somerset officer hospitalized.

Around 11:53 p.m., Somerset Police were called about the domestic incident on Emerald Court.


At the scene, officers said they found a man armed. During the ensuing confrontation, the man was shot by a police officer. He was declared dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

Kentucky State Police was called to investigate an officer-involved shooting following the Somerset Police Department’s domestic violence investigation.

During the altercation, KSP said an officer was injured and was later transported to the Lake Cumberland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
