BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (FOX 56) – A shooting threat against protestors lead to the Bowling Green Christmas Parade getting canceled on Saturday.

Bowling Green Police Department said there were at least three groups of people who had planned a protest at noon. The police said they learned of a plan to shoot anyone protesting or anyone aiding the protestors prior to the planned parade and protests.

Officials from Jaycees Christmas Parade canceled the planned parade out of what they described as an abundance of caution.

FOX 56 confirmed the protests were related to the 1955 lynching of 14-year-old Emmitt Till.

Authorities are still working to determine the origins of this threat.
