SLADE, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Red River Gorge Geologic Area might be one of Kentucky’s most iconic tourism posters, and that is being reinforced by Southern Living, which just named the Natural Bridge State Park the best park in Kentucky.
Natural Bridge State Park is about 3.5 square miles of hikes and sights in the Red River Gorge Geologic Area and is surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest.
The bridge is usually accessed through hiking trails or a seasonal skylift. Families looking to make Kentucky’s natural tourism part of their summer vacation can head to Hemlock Lodge for square dancing, line dancing, and traditional Appalachian clog dancing every Saturday and then relax at the Hemlock Lodge or one of the nearby camping sites.
