KENTUCKY (FOX 56) — The “most magical place on Earth” just celebrated its 52nd birthday on Oct. 1, and to help celebrate, Finance Buzz tracked the most popular Disney movies in each state.

Finance Buzz used Google Trends data to uncover which Disney movies are the most beloved across the nation.

In Kentucky, the most popular Disney movie is “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” which was released in 2014. The most popular Disney movie overall was a tie between “The Lion King” (1994) and The Lion King live-action remake (2019), with each winning four states.

As for the most beloved classics in the Disney vault, in Kentucky, The Lion King is the pride of the movie kingdom. In fact, nationwide, 29 states agreed that The Lion King is the top cat.

Diving even deeper, Finance Buzz looked at the most popular animated Disney movie in each state, ending with “Raya and the Last Dragon” (2021).

In Kentucky, a surprise winner emerged, as “Toy Story 4” reminded viewers how fleeting childhood is. Across the U.S., as expected, The Lion King roared louder than the rest, winning the support of eight states.

Given the dominance of The Lion King, Finance Buzz must have decided to dive even deeper and look at which Pixar movies are the most beloved by the U.S. Kentucky held true to its roots, and once again selected Toy Story 4, while the nation was once again split between “Soul” (2021) and “Toy Story”, with each winning nine states.
