LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) — One person is dead after a house fire in London on Monday.

Kentucky State Police said KSP Post 11 received a call at 1 a.m. about a structure fire on Terrell Road 10 south of London.

Authorities said after the fire was put out, firefighters discovered human remains inside the home. The remains were identified as those of 54-year-old Melissa S. Creech, of London. The Laurel County Coroner’s Office pronounced Creech dead at the scene.

Kentucky State Police said the fire remains under investigation.
