ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A woman is injured after being shot on Tuesday while driving northbound on I-75.

The Rockcastle County sheriff said the woman was driving around 10:30 p.m. near mile marker 52 when she was shot in the legs.

The woman was airlifted from Rockcastle Regional Hospital to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff. No other information was released regarding the severity of her injuries.

The sheriff’s office, Kentucky State Police, Rockcastle County EMS, and the Mt. Vernon Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the scene and attempted to find the shooter.

The shooting remains under investigation.
