LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in the Gainesway Drive fire as 63-year-old Darrell Gross.
One person has died in a Thursday morning house fire in Lexington, authorities confirmed.
The Lexington Fire Department said crews were dispatched around 6 a.m. to the 1000 block of Gainesway Drive for reports of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews said there was visible smoke coming from the home. First responders located one male victim and the coroner was called to the scene.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. The road is shut down between Castleton Hill & Spendthrift Road as they work.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased’s identity after the family is notified.
