LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A man and a woman were arrested after a nearly six-hour standoff with Lexington police.

Police said the standoff happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 300 block of Tangley Way. Officers said they arrived to arrest the pair following a tip from a Minnesota police department that two kidnappers were inside.

According to the Lexington Police Department, they confirmed the two were inside and attempted to make contact, but they refused to surrender. The Crisis Negotiation Unit and the Emergency Response Unit arrived at the house just before 9 p.m. to continue negotiating.

The pair eventually surrendered around 11:15 p.m. and were arrested. An infant in the home was precautiously treated by emergency personnel before being taken into protective custody.

Police later identified the two as Zachariah Whitehead, 28, and Amanda Wamack, 28, and they were arrested on felony kidnapping warrants from Minnesota.

Whitehead and Wamack were taken to the Fayette County Detention Center.
