LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — After three years, a suspect in a Lexington shooting is in custody.

In 2022, police responded to a shooting near the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive for a reported assault.

The victim told police that then-23-year-old William Bruce Cayson had hit him with a gun.

But Cayson was gone when officers arrived.

Cayson is now in custody. He was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center on Tuesday.

He is charged with first-degree assault — domestic violence, second-degree assault, buying or possessing drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, probation violation, resisting arrest, first-degree trafficking in controlled substances first offense (less than or equal to 2 gms methamphetamine), first-degree trafficking in controlled substance first offense (less than or equal to 4 gms cocaine), trafficking in controlled substance first offense heroin, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment.
