To create its best companies to work for rankings, Zippia uses a collection of resume data to score and then compare companies of similar types and then rank them. The main characteristics used to rank companies are salary, company financial health, and diversity.

Here are the best places to work, according to Zippia:

1. Lexmark

Lexmark International is one of Lexington’s largest employers, with 1,300 employees in Lexington, according to Commerce Lexington. Lexmark provides imaging and cloud-based solutions for homes and businesses.

According to Zippia, Lexmark Internation offers an average salary of $77,381 and scored a 4.9 out of 5, making it the highest-rated place to work in Lexington on Zippia’s list. The company scored well for its salary and excelled in diversity and performance.

2. Tempur Sealy International

One of the world’s largest mattress companies, Tempur Sealy, owns brands like Tempur-Pedic and is headquartered in Lexington. Tempur Sealy International has about 350 jobs in Lexington and scores a 4.6 out of 5 on Zippia.

Zippia scored Tempur Sealy International high in diversity, but it pays less than some of its competitors. According to Zippia, the average employee makes $54,273 per year, while its highest-paying competitors, like Ansell, WhiteWave Foods, and Energizer Holdings, pay $65,104, $58,390, and $58,223, respectively.

3. Fayette County Public Schools

Fayette County Public Schools scored a 4.5 on Zippia with high scores in all three main categories: salary, performance, and diversity.

4. Saint Joseph Health System, Inc.

Zippia scored Saint Joseph Health System Inc. a 4.5. Saint Joseph Health System Inc. excelled in its diversity and scored well for salaries and performance.

5. Forcht Bank

Forcht Bank is one of the smaller companies on Zippia’s list, with about 240 employees. According to Zippia, nearly 20% of employees at Forcht Bank are graduates of Eastern Kentucky University.

Zippia gave Forcht 4.5 stars and a perfect score when it came to salary, with the average salary being $38,199 per year or $18 per hour.

6. CLARK Material Handling Company (CMH Holdings Corporation)

CMH Holdings Corporation manufactures and distributes forklift trucks. Zippia gives the company a 4.4 out of 5.

According to the company, it has been an industry leader since its production of the first gasoline-powered material handling truck in 1917. CLARK has over 550 locations worldwide, with dealer representation in over 80 countries. The North American Headquarters for CLARK Material Handling Company is in Lexington.

7. The Lexington School

The Lexington School is a private elementary school serving preschool through middle school students and their families. The private school is the smallest company on this list, with just 100 employees. Zippia gave it a 4.4 overall.

8. Lexington Clinic

Lexington Clinic is one of central Kentucky’s largest and oldest medical groups, according to Zippia, with 200 providers in more than 20 specialties serving Lexington. Lexington Commerce said Lexington Clinic contributes 830 jobs to Lexington’s economy.

Zippia gave the company a 4.4, with diversity and performance being big winners but losing points regarding salary. The average salary is $40,188 per year or $19 per hour.

9. Central Baptist Hospital Foundation, Inc.

The third healthcare group on the list is Central Baptist Hospital Foundation Inc., with a rating of 4.4 from Zippia. Central Baptist Hospital employs about 2,500 people and performs well on diversity and performance, but Zippia does not have a salary review of Central Baptist Hospital.

10. Alliance Coal, LLC

Another large employer, Alliance Coal, has around 4,999 employees, with about 15% being from Murry State University. According to Zippia, the company was founded in 1971.

Zippia gave Alliance Coal a 4.3, with the high points being salary and performance, but it underperformed when it came to diversity.
