LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56/WKYT) – Shoppers in Lexington were out early getting a start on their Black Friday shopping.

Stores started opening around 5:00 a.m. Friday morning, bringing many folks out to get a head start, but some reported that the crowds weren’t as bad as they were in previous years.

Still, people we talked to said the experiences are just as important as the deals.

“We both love a good deal, but it’s also fun,” shopper Cori Quesenberry said. “Like we usually have a few other friends with us too, but it’s still nice. We’ve been roommates for 4-5 years and it’s nice to just get out and have fun and it is part of the experience to be cold and drink hot chocolate, so yeah it’s fun too.”

Black Friday is seen as the symbolic start of the holiday shopping season.
