BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Officials in Bourbon County said they are investigating an “altercation” deemed “criminal in nature” that happened Friday at the high school.

Superintendent Dr. Larry Begley shared the following statement:

There was an altercation today at the high school. Our SRO’s responded and deemed that it was criminal in nature. Our CDW came down, and we are working to investigate the specifics and will pursue the maximum the law will allow. I extend my appreciation to our SRO’s and local authorities for their presence and willingness to always help. I have no reason to believe that we have an ongoing threat. We are committed to maintaining a safe place for people to work and kids to learn.

Bourbon County School District said on Facebook that there was an extra police presence during dismissal out of caution.
