RICHMOND, Ky. (FOX 56) – The moment many Kentuckians have been waiting for has officially arrived as Buc-ee’s opened its doors to the public for the first time.
The Richmond location was scheduled to host its official grand opening at 6 a.m. Tuesday, but that didn’t stop many people from lining up outside as early as 3 a.m., ready to get their hands on the franchise’s infamous “Beaver Nuggets” and sliced brisket.
Buc-ee’s is known for its “go big or go home” style and has applied it to the Richmond location which boasts a 53,000 square foot store, 120 gas pumps, and a staff of more than 400 employees.
Josh Smith, Buc-ee’s Director of Operations, said the Richmond store was chosen for its prime location, but the hospitable citizens of the area sweetened the deal.
“I mean, take a look outside, it’s a great intersection. The people of Richmond have been amazing, Madison County has been great to us, they kind of welcomed us with open arms. You know, we’re in a position that puts us between Cincinnati and Atlanta, and Richmond was a spot on the map and it’s been great,” said Smith.
If you wish to experience Buc-ee’s but are not in the Richmond area, fear not, the company has approved two more locations within the state. Buc-ee’s plan’s to open locations in Oak Grove in Christian County and Smith’s Grove near Bowling Green in the coming years.
