LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Father Jim Sichko, a Papal Missionary of Mercy, underwent successful surgery to remove a malignant tumor found on his kidney.

Father Sichko bases the majority of his work within the central Kentucky region but became well known in the state for his work with underprivileged mining families in eastern Kentucky.

The message he wishes to spread through his health trials is to take care of your body and keep an eye on any abnormal changes.

“Please pay attention to what your body is telling you, get your physicals,” said Sichko.

Sichko also said in an interview that the care he received from healthcare workers in the area contributed largely to his successful procedure.

“I’m gonna say thank you to all the amazing medical workers, doctors, nurses, techs. You are fabulous,” Sichko said.

It is believed that the surgery will completely take care of the issue, and he is already up and moving around.
