BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A large field outside of North Middletown is filled with poppies just in time for Memorial Day.

The red poppy has long been a symbol of remembrance to honor fallen soldiers.

A Bourbon County couple is honoring them by blooming a large poppy field. Owners of Middle Springs Farm opened their newest attraction—called Red, White and Bloom!—to the public for the holiday weekend.

“We were at least hoping that they would be blooming around Memorial Day, given the symbolism of the poppy for memorializing fallen veterans,” Justin Menke, co-owner, said. “We thought this could be a really special event.”

According to the farm’s website, the attraction is open until June 17 and offers access to the flower fields, play areas, farm animal area, Grain Bin Market, and more.
