GEORGETOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — One person is dead after a wreck on Tuesday in Georgetown.
The Georgetown Police Department said units pursued an impaired driver at 6:30 a.m. Police attempted to stop a 2015 Dodge Dart being driven by 21-year-old Deionta Catlett, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. Catlett reportedly avoided stop sticks laid out by authorities and proceeded to cross over the center line on US 25 North, where he struck another vehicle.
The sheriff’s office said Catlett was on the wrong side of the roadway while fleeing Georgetown police at the time of the crash, causing a head-on collision that killed the other driver. Catlett was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.
“Catlett had multiple opportunities to pull over his vehicle, while fleeing GPD, he operated his vehicle in a manner which shown no regard to human life,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The driver killed was later identified by the Scott County coroner as 46-year-old David Jonathan Jett.

Catlett has been charged with the following:
- Second-degree manslaughter
- Speeding 26 mph or more over the speed limit
- Reckless driving
- First-degree fleeing or evading police, (motor vehicle)
- First-degree wanton endangerment (police officer)
- Operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license
- Driving without license/negligence in accident
- No registration plates
- Failure of owner to maintain required ins/sec, second-offense
- Disregarding a traffic control device (traffic light)

The driver, according to police, avoided stop sticks laid out by authorities and proceeded to cross over the center line on US 25 North where they struck another vehicle.
Officials confirmed the alleged impaired driver is in the hospital, their status is unknown. The driver of the other vehicle was pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the driver as 21-year-old Deionta Catlett.
The investigation is ongoing.
