LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) One person is dead after a fiery crash Friday morning.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of Leestown Road in Scott County, near the Fayette County line.

Police tell us a pickup truck crossed the center line and hit a UPS truck head-on. The impact threw the pickup driver into the bed of his truck. He was able to escape before the fire destroyed the truck.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the pickup was taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center where he died. The name of that person has not been released.

The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.

The sheriff’s office says, at this point in the investigation, it is not clear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.

The road is now back open.
