NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Firefighters are battling a structure fire on Cool Breeze Drive in Nicholasville.

The fire broke out around 3 a.m., and fire crews arrived shortly after.

FOX 56 has been told that crews are attacking the structure fire from two different sides, as the fire has broken out between two houses that are tightly packed together.

A neighbor told FOX 56 that he woke up at 4 a.m., saw the flames and the fire trucks, and sprinted over because the home belonged to a friend of his.

Jessamine County Fire Chief Danny Eades said one home has been completely destroyed as a result of the fire. Two people from the home have been taken to the hospital for treatment and their condition is currently unknown.

Two surrounding homes were damaged as a result of the fire.

Eades told FOX 56 that water access was scarce and fire crews had to continue to bring tankers to the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
