LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Fayette County man is behind bars after being sentenced to charges related to the production of child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky, 50-year-old Christopher Livingood of Lexington was sentenced on Friday to 30 years in federal prison.

Livingood, a former narcotics detective with the Paris Police Department, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2021, after FBI agents traced explicit images of minors engaged in sexual activity back to his personal electronic device.

According to his plea agreement, Livingood used the Kik social media platform to communicate with another individual about sexual acts that he wanted to perform on a minor. He also admitted to possessing and sending sexually explicit content involving a minor to the same individual.

Livingood must serve 85% of his prison sentence under federal law.
