RICHMOND, Ky. (FOX 56) — Law enforcement agencies in Madison County are trying to piece together the timeline of events that led to a home invasion and the death of a 32-year-old woman.
That victim, Jordan Morgan, is the daughter of former state representative Wesley Morgan.
Wesley was also shot in the ordeal.
Wesley was known in Madison County for his politics, business skills, and home.
Brad Barron said, “I was the libertarian nominee against McConnell and Wesley helped me with my campaign.”
As a local businessman, Morgan owns Liquor World stores in Madison County.
Former employee, Raymond Diaz, said, “I used to work for him about 12 years ago at the Liquor World on 237 Bypass. This was before he went to run for state representative, I think it was. He was a good guy, I had nothing but respect for him.”
According to state police, Wesley was able to shoot back. But his daughter, Jordan, was killed.
The 32-year-old just accepted a position as an associate attorney at a Lexington law firm. Friends of the family say Jordan was Morgan’s pride and joy.
Barron added, “He was a very proud father. She went to law school. And he’s been very successful but to see him light up it was all about her. And talking about being able to put her through law school and watching her through all that is what really lights him up.”
The Willis Branch Road home boasts a high-tech security system to keep intruders out and Madison County is usually quiet, which is why residents are confused that such a tragic crime would happen there.
Diaz continued, “I just don’t understand how somebody three, four in the morning and go out to that neighborhood especially with him having cameras and all that.”
Kentucky State Police said it’s too early to determine if there is an ongoing threat to the public.
Police also said Jordan Morgan was a part-time resident at the Morgan’s Willis Branch Rd home.
