LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Lexington’s Fifth Third Bank location on Walden Drive was robbed Monday morning.
According to the Lexington Police Department, officers responded to the Fifth Third Bank on Walden Drive for a report of a robbery. Officers were told the suspect had a firearm and handed the employee a note demanding money. The employee complied, and the suspect fled the scene with a small amount of money.
Lieutenant Dan Truex, with the Lexington Police Department, told FOX 56 News there were no injuries, but could not yet confirm who the suspect was.
The Lexington Police Department is looking for the bank robber and started their search across the street at Pinebrook Apartments.
There were multiple cars surrounding the perimeter of the Pinebrook Apartments Monday afternoon, and Lexington’s mobile command post came on scene, as well as SWAT vehicles.
Three hours later, police were heard trying to make contact with someone inside the apartments where they believed the robber might be.
Lexington police left the apartments at around 2 p.m. with no one being arrested.
