LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – According to Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Bobby Flynn died this morning at the age of 95.

Flynn, an Army veteran, was a state senator from 1968 to 1972 and served on the Lexington City Council for 12 years.

In his early days, Flynn played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and was the first white player to play for the semi-pro African-American league.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Road, and the burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sayre Christian Village, 3775 Belleau Wood Drive.
