LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Lexington man is facing numerous charges, including rape, after a reported attack that took place on Wednesday evening.

According to an arrest citation, just before 8 p.m., Ali Doumbia, 22, appeared in front of a woman who said she was walking to her apartment. Doumbia reportedly had his pants below his waist. The woman said she tried to take a different route home, and Doumbia met her at her apartment steps.


During the incident, the police said he pushed her down at the bottom of the steps and proceeded to attempt to remove her pants. Doumbia reportedly covered the woman’s mouth with his hands while she yelled for help from her neighbors.

Doumbia was later arrested and charged with:

  • First-degree strangulation
  • First-degree rape (attempted)
  • Fourth-degree assault
  • First-degree indecent exposure

He was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center and is due in court at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 27.
