LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Lexington police are investigating a reported burglary on Sunday.

At 3:48 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Wittland Lane. At the scene, the police said they learned a man had forced his way into the home before being shot by a resident.

The police said the man was taken to an area hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries.

The police have not released the identity of the individual believed to have been responsible for the attempted burglary, but they were charged with burglary, public intoxication, and criminal mischief.
