MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to two different shooting calls in Berea on Thursday.

Upon arriving at the scenes, deputies have confirmed the calls to be false and possible “swatting”.

Swatting is defined as eliciting a gathering of law enforcement to a certain target or location under false pretenses.

“Swatting” calls in Berea are coming off the heels of multiple swatting calls and emails in Rowan County as Morehead State University and St. Claire HealthCare.

At this time the origins of the false calls are unknown and the case remains under investigation.
