LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A man has died after a shooting Sunday night in Lexington.

According to police, the shooting happened just after 9:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Race Street.

Officers said they found a man—later identified by the coroner as 47-year-old Esaud Pereyra Cortes—who had been shot and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooter reportedly fled the scene before police got there, according to authorities.

The homicide remains under investigation.
