LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56/WKYT) – Police are investigating a shooting in Lexington the night of Dec. 7. They were called to the area around 8:15 p.m.
Police said one person is dead after a shooting on the 1400 block of Hill Street, not far from the Lexington Legends ballpark.
Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from gunshot wounds near an apartment complex.
Officers began CPR on the victim until Lexington Fire Department arrived and transported him to a local hospital.
The 51-year-old male victim, identified as Ramon Pennie by the Fayette County Coroners Office, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Officers told us five cars and two apartments nearby were hit with bullets. They’re not aware of any other injuries.
It’s Lexington’s 35th homicide of the year, surpassing the city’s record of 34 homicides set in 2020. We’re told 22 of Lexington’s 35 homicides of 2021 remain open cases.
