DANVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Boyle County Sheriff’s Office reported that, while on patrol Jan. 21, officers attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on a 2016 Kia Passenger in Danville.

While signaling for the vehicle to pull over, the vehicle accelerated rapidly in an attempt to flee. During the pursuit, the driver of the Kia struck a deer before later getting stuck in a cornfield in Washington County.

The driver, Delbert Jones Jr., attempted to flee on foot where he was quickly apprehended.

Jones was arrested and charged with the following:

-Speeding 26+ mph over the speed limit

-Fleeing or evading police, 1st Degree (motor vehicle)

-Fleeing or evading police, 2nd Degree (on foot)

-Reckless driving

-Operating on suspended/revoked operators license

-Failure to or improper signal

-No registration plates

-Failure to maintain insurance
